Abstract
The effects of discharge ratio between main channel and branch channel on the flow characteristics including the water-level fluctuation along the river,stage-discharge relation and incipient velocity at confluence zone were studied based on the physical model tests. The results indicated that the strength of water-level fluctuation at confluence zone was closely related to the discharge ratio between main channel and branch channel and river pattern, and incipient velocity variation along the river at confluence zone was obviously different from the one in single channel.
