A preliminary study on the imperial examination in Wuzhoulu in the Yuan Dynasty

the several generations of literati were active in Wuzhoulu of East Zhejiang in the Mongol-yuan period.Many of them became excellent litterateurs and moralists.There was a close relationship between the developed culture in Wuzhoulu and the short imperial examination system,and the implementation of imperial examination promoted the development of neo-Confucianism and as well as the change of neo-Confucianism to literature which was called orthodox knowledge.Meanwhile,the flourishing of the imperial examination promoted the development of local education which caused the formation of literati circle of East Zhejiang with Jinhua as the center.
