Shortage or Surplus?——A Discussion on the Problems in the Chinese Urbanization Process

The form and process of urbanization may become a main influence of China's future economic development, social structure,urban and rural patterns. The paper reviews China's urbanization process and main characters since modern times,and analyses 'Chinese Problems' due to rapid urbanization such as uneven development and over—urbanization. It also discusses the proper ways of urbanization in China and the constructive roles that planning can play based on an analysis of the relationships between urbanization and rural modernization as well as the restrictive factors of the urbanization.
