Abstract

Radiometric calibration is the key to improving quality and quantitative applications of the remote sensor data.A comprehensive calibration and validation experiment of MODIS(Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer)visible and near-infrared bands was performed by National Spaceborne Demonstration at the ErLianhot test site in May 2007 in order to validate the veracity of MODIS on-orbit calibration coefficients. The reflectance-based calibration method was used. It was found that the vicarious calibration results were in good agreement with the MODIS on-board calibration results with the deviation less than 6% at the ErLianhot test site. The results showed that the calibration results of both vicarious calibration and on-orbit calibration was highly reliable.
