Effect of Danhong Injection on Inflammatory cytokines in elderly patients with angina

Objective To evaluate the effect of Danhong Injection on inflammatory factors including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and Interleukin-6(IL-6)in elderly patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP)and unstable angina pectoris(UAP).Methods One hundred and thirty-two cases older than 60 years old were divided into SAP group(SAP,58 patients)and UAP group(UAP,74 patients).The two group patients were given same treatment with aspirin,clopidogrel,statins,nitrates,angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonist and β-blocker.On this basis the two group were given Danhong Injection at the dose of 40 ml per day by dissolving in 250 ml of 5% glucose for venous dripping for 14 days.The serum of hs-CRP,TNF-α and IL-6 were analyzed in two groups before and after the treatment.Results Before treatment,the serum level of hs-CRP was(2.74±0.07) mg/L,TNF-α(12.52±0.91) ng/L and IL-6(8.15±0.97) ng/L in UAP group was higher than that of hs-CRP with(2.02±0.14) mg/L,TNF-α(10.36±0.65) ng/L and IL-6(7.53±0.36) ng/L in the SAP group with a significant difference(P0.05).After treatment for 14 days,the serum level of hs-CRP was(2.12±0.15) mg/L,TNF-α 10.98±0.39 ng/L and IL-6(7.64±0.29) ng/L,all the figure apparently decreased significantly in UAP group(P0.05).However,the serum level of hs-CRP(1.99±0.09) mg/L,TNF-α(10.17±0.83) ng/L and IL-6(7.33±0.79) ng/L did not decrease significantly in SAP group(P0.05).Conclusions Danhong Injection can be used as adjuvant therapy in elderly patients with coronary heart disease by inhibiting the inflammatory response,especially for UAP.
