Abstract

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is an urban transit system that, through improvements to infrastructure, vehicles and scheduling, makes buses move people almost as quickly and efficiently as a subway system, but at a much lower cost. The advantages of BRT have won favorable comment and recognition of China's cities, and the cities including Beijing,Hangzhou, and Changzhou have operated commercial BRT systems. Under the development of BRT brought, the transit vehicles are becoming larger and modern. It will take long time to develop a BRT in real sense and share the significant rate of urban traffic in the cities of China. As a transition phase, using mass and modern vehicles in traditional bus system will contribute to mitigate the congestion and low level service of bus system in the cities of China.
