Abstract
The effects of lycopene on proliferation of estrogrn receptor(ER)-positive MCF-7 and the effects of lycopene on the cell cycle and apoptosis of them are explored. The proliferation of MCF-7 cell was analyzed by MTT and H3-TdR incorporation;the effects of cell cycle and apoptosis of synchronized cells were observed through flow cytometry. The lycopene could inhibited the growth and DNA synthesis of MCF-7 cell with dose-dependent manner. The biggest inhibition rate of the cell growth is up to 52.6% after treatment with lycopene for 4 days.Flow cytometry analysis showed that MCF-7 cell had more cells in the G0/G1 phase and less cells in the S and G2/M phase after lycopene treatment for 24 h,but lycopene didn't induced apoptosis in MCF-7 cell.Lycopene inhibition of ER-positive MCF-7 cell growth is associated with inhibition of cell cycle progression.
