Abstract

Thin film composite membranes for nanofiltration were fabricated through interfacial polymerization. The membranes were prepared on the support of polyethersulfone(PES) ultrafiltration membranes with piperazine(PIP) as aqueous monomer and trimesoyl chloride(TMC) as organic monomer. The surface structure and chemical composition were analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry(FTIR).The results revealed that a thin layer composed of polyamide was formed on the support.Experiment results of membrane performance showed that the membrane was negatively charged and the salts rejection order was Na2SO4MgSO4MgCl2NaCl.The optimum polymerization conditions were PIP concentration 0.5%~2%,TMC concentration 0.15wt%~0.75wt%,reaction time≥1min,curing temperature 60℃~80℃,curing time about 15 min.
