Abstract

Objective: To study the changes of transforming growth factor-beta1 TGF-a1 and platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) and the transformation of cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), to discuss their clinic value. Methods: The ELISA methods were used to measure the contents of TGF-a1 PDGF. Results: In the BALF of patients with IPF, the contents of TGF-a1, PDGF were significantly increased than those in normal control subjects (P0.01, P0.05). Conclusion: TGF-a1 and PDGF are involved in formation of IPF, to measure the contents of TGF-a1 PDGF could be helpful to diagnosis of IPF and act as the markers of activity of disease; to block the biologic activity of TGF-a1 PDGF may be of a great future as a treatment for IPF.
