Abstract

The tensile properties of 3J21 alloy in under-aged state was conducted on a universal tensile test machine at room temperature in atmospheric conditions. Moreover,a metallographic microscope and X-ray were used to analyze the metallographic structure and physical phase of the alloy in under-aged state.By employing a transmission electron microscope an analysis was conducted to the specimens of solid solution state and under-aged state as well as the microstructure of deformation near the tensile fracture. With the use of a scanning electron microscope a tensile fracture was observed. It was found that the tensile fracture of 3J21 alloy was a dimple fracture in under-aged state. The distance between the slip lines was smaller in the microstructure near the fracture of the alloy in under-aged state. The alloy in under-aged state featured a good match for the strength and plasticity. The influence of under-aged state on the tensile properties of 3J21 alloy is discussed at room temperature in atmospheric conditions.
