HDPE Composites Filled with Different Wood Fibers

Abstract

The rice chaff and wood powder are the primary fillers used in the HDPE/wood fiber composites in China now.The drying characteristics of five different wood fibers which were rice chaff,pine wood powder,bamboo powder,fibers made from the straw of wheat,and fibers made from the rice haulm were studied.The performances of the HDPE composites filled with these five wood fibers were studied as well.It was proved that the properties of the HDPE composites filled with these five wood fibers are very similar.It was meaningful to improve the comprehensive utilization of the recycled wood fivers and to expand the specification of the HDPE/wood fiber products in China.
