The Book of Songs, a general collection of poems in ancient time of our country, is well - known for its extensive contents, rich subjects, wide range of discussion and vast amount of information. This collection reflects the social features of Zhou Dynasty from various aspects. In this collection, the works dealing with marriage etiquettes and customs, presents the historical development of marriage system . The various types of marriage system which existed in Zhou Dynasty was explored in this paper.
