Utilization of Antibiotics in Outpatient Prescriptions

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the utilization of antibiotics in the outpatients' prescriptions in the First Branch of Guangxi Zhan Autonomous Region People’s Hospital.METHODS:A total of 10 752 outpatient prescriptions of our hospital from January to December in 2008 were randomly selected for statistical analysis in respect of the utilization status,drug varieties,rate of antibiotic use,combined use of antibiotics etc.RESULTS:The rate of antibiotic use in the outpatient prescriptions reached 46.14%.Cephalosporins took the lead in terms of DDDs,followed by fluoroquinolones and macrolides.CONCLUSION:The use of antibiotics in the outpatient prescriptions of our hospital was somewhat irrational;therefore,it is urgent to tighten control on the rational use and standard use of antibiotics to promote rational use of antibiotics.
