The Meanings of Cultural Philosophy: the Changes of Cultural Mode and Its Development

At present, the essence of modern crisis for human existence is a crisis of culture. However, it is the self~examination toward the crisis that created the rise of cultural philosophy in the 19th century and its flourishing in the 20th century. Culture is the basis of philosophy, and philosophy the embodiment of culture--the relationship between them determines that the developing form of the future philosophy ought to be a cultural philosophy. China is confronting with an unprecedented social transformation and a change from traditionally spontaneous culture in agriculture to modern conscious one. If failed to conduct a complete revolution in the way of thinking, conventional customs, the way of life and the style of existence those have formed in hundreds of years, we should never accomplish our socialist modernization drive.
