Abstract

Objective: To explore the application of endoscopic sinus surgery for the treatment of frontal sinus diseases. Methods: Surgical managements of frontal sinus with transnasal endoscope were done according to CT scanning in combination with accurate positioning of frontal sinus ostium.Removement of the lesions obstructed the frontal sinus drainage and enlargement of frontal sinus ostium were done to establish a physiological ventilation drainage channel of frontal sinus.Postoperative managements including regular lavaging, debridement of nasal cavity and nasal sinus were required. Results: After a follow-up of 4~24 months, the symptoms of all cases were disappeared or improved, and there were no recurrence or serious postoperative complications. Conclusions:Endoscopic sinus surgery is a safe, effective and minimal invasive therapy, searching and opening frontal sinus ostium accurately and keeping it not to be obstructed is the key of success. The lesions of frontal recess should be removed and the mucosa around the sinus ostium should be reserved. The effect will be satisfied with successful operation.
