Abstract
Objective To summarize the clinical symptoms and mechanism of postoperative complications of cerebellopontine angle by retrosigmoid approach and to supply the relating clinical signs and management of complications. Methods The cases with the surgery of cerebellopontine angle by retrosigmoid approach during the last 8 years were analyzed retrospectively. Results In 639 patients, the common complications included vertigo, tinitus, herps of the lip, temporary facial weakness, hypodermatic gelfoam diffluence, incision infection, blepharoptosis and cerebrospinal fluid otorhinorrhea. The severe complications included meningitis in 22 cases, subarachnoid hemorrhage in 3 cases, chemical meningitis in 3 cases, stress ulcer in 1 case and cerebrovascuiar accident in 1 case. The occurrence rate of severe complications in this group was 5.01%(32/639).By positive treatments, they were cured except one died patient. Conclusion To know the causes and mechanism of the complications is very important for prevention and management of the complications.
