Abstract

The paper reviews comprehensively the studies done both in-and outside of China on railway passenger train stop plans and finds the following patterns.Currently, most of the expert attention is on the arrangement of stop stations in light of train dispatching plans whereas dedicated studies on stop arrangement optimization are rare;studies on the train stop plans of single lines or existing lines are common whereas those of the dedicated passenger lines are less seen;experience-based stop plan adjustment is a popular research subject while theoretical optimization or algorithm studies are neglected. The paper argues that high-speed railway passenger train stop plans should be arrived at with the picture of the overall passenger transport network system in mind and,at the same time, satisfying the passenger travel requirements.
