Study on Composition and Floristic Elements of Vegetation in Dongting Lake

Composition and floristic elements of vegetation in the Dongting Lake were investigated on the basis of the field investigation in 2007-2009.Our results showed that:(1) 229 seed plants belonging to 58 families and 150 genera were found and 97.5% of species belongs to herb plants;(2) Monotypic families and genera are rich,including 34 families and 118 genera and accounting for 54.0% and 76.1% of the whole families and genera respectively;(3) On the family level,the main floristic components are the type of pantropic and north temperate zone.On the genera level,59 genera belongs to the north temperate zone,which is the biggest part of the whole genera,indicating that the floristic elements of vegetation in the Dongting Lake shows temperate characteristic.
