Abstract
A spectrophotometric method was established for the determination of chondroitin sulfate. Crystal violet had a characteristic absorption peak at 583nm in pH 5.0 acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer solution. The maximal absorbance value was decreased by the complex which was formed from crystal violet with chondroitin sulfate. The decrease in absorbance value was linear with chondroitin sulfate in the concentration range of 0.01 - 2.7μg/ml. The average recovery was 99.7%.
