The Introduction and Localization of Killing-locust Technology by Chemicals and Machinery in the Republic of China

The technical innovation of killing locust in the period of the Republic of China was the most important contribution in the locust-control history of China,and the pivotal achievement was the killing-locust technology by chemicals and machinery drawn into China,which extremely promoted the efficiency of locust-killed and directly influenced the locust-control mode of the People′s Republic of China after 1949.The introduction and localization process included:First,the foreign locusts physiology knowledge and chemical eradicating-locust technology as well as the wiping-equipment were introduced into China.Second,the domestic research institutions were set up to carry out the locust investigation and test as well as train the professional talents of locust-control.Third,the native plant poison and raw materials were used to create the cheap and practical domestically-made-pesticides and appliances to kill locusts.
