Long-term Effect Analysis of Different Control Measures of Filariasis

Objective To know long-term effect of different control measures after basic elimination of filariasis.Method A series of measures were conducted including filariasis residual reservoir searching,mass chemotherapy,surveillance to the mass at high risk and investigation of chronic cases of filariasis.Result Nine of 349 persons once detected with the worm in their blood were found positive one years after basic elimination of filariasis in Jiajiang county,and 2 and 15 cases detected positive at the early three year after basic elimination of filariasis,in which 1 and 12 cases were newly identified in Junlian county and Jiajiang county,respectively.Conclusion At the early period after basic elimination of filariasis,the transmission of filariasis remained to some extent.After a series of control measures were conducted,there were no newly-detected native filariasis cases.These results were proved by the followed surveillance activites after complete elimination of filariasis.The results revealed that long-term effect of control measures of filariasis used in this paper was obvious.
