Abstract

Objective:To identify the functional activity areas of motor cortex by functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI),as well as to study the clinical value of fMRI in the patients with brain tumors located near motor cortex.Methods:20 healthy volunteers and 30 patients with tumors located in or directly near to the motor cortex were checked by routine and functional MRI.The functional images of brain motor cortex obtained by complex finger movements.All the scanning data were analyzed by the statistical method.The fMRI images were analyzed and compared with the pre-operation fMRI.Results:The image of fMRI for 20 healthy volunteers were clear with good functional activity in brain motor cortex.While the pathological changes domain in 30 patients with brain tumors showed weaken,displaced or diffusely distributed,but turned to normal after surgical operation.Conclusion:BOLD fMRI is an effective and non-invasive approach in localizing the motor cortex of brain,which is very helpful in the formulation of surgery planning,to increase the efficiency of surgery,and to reduce the possibility of nerve center injury in surgery.
