Abstract
Objective To study the expression of COX-2 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) tissue and its relation with expression of Survivin. Methods The expression of COX-2 and Survivin was assessed by immunohistochemistry staining in 43 NPC tissues. Results In the NPC tissues, the positivity rate of COX-2 and Survivin expression was 79.1%(33/43),76.7%(32/43).The expression of COX-2 was significantly higher in phase Ⅳ than that in the other phases. There also was a strong positive correlation between COX-2 and Survivin(P0.01).Conclusion The high expression of COX-2 may play an important role in NPC,probably by means of inhibiting the tumor cells apoptosis.
