Abstract

A method was developed for determining avermectin residues in shallots. Samples were extracted withacetonitrile. Following derivatization with N-methylimidazole and trifluoroacetic anhydride, avermectin was deter-mined by HPLC with fluorescence detection (lex = 365 nm, lem = 470 nm). Average recovery of avermectin ranged from91.8 to 96.7%, the coefficient of variation was 1.5 to 4.9%, and the limit of detection was 0.001 mg/kg.
