Document Classic and Chou Li:Classics of City Planning and Fengshui Theory in Ancient China

All the construction activities in ancient China are deeply affected by fengshui theory.This paper is based on the interpretation of the denotation and origin of fengshui and its influence on site-selection and planning of constructions.Illustrated with plenty of vivid pictures,the historical facts recorded in Document Classic are analyzed as to the forefathers' planning and constructing the new capital city of Luoyang at the beginning of Zhou Dynasty.And Chou Li,a book derived from the aforementioned experience,also has a great influence on the ancient city planning and fengshui theory in China.This paper gives a detailed explanation to the method of resources investigation and valuation in city planning,the city ecosystem mode on the basis of environment capacity,and the ze zhong guan(the view of selecting the center) in site-selection,etc.All these lead to a conclusion that Document Classicand Chou Li are regarded as the classics of city planning and fengshui theory in ancient China.
