Abstract

Nanomechanics deals with the mechanical problems of ma terials, apparatus and structures at nanometer scale. The nanomechanics rose fro m the need of nano-technology. An atomistic-based continuum theory is proposed . Some mechanical problems of carbon nanotubes are analysed by use of this theor y. The results are compared with those obtained by the molecular dynamics.
