Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of treating acute severe organophosphorus pesticide poisoning(ASOPP) combined respiratory failure with mechanical ventilation. Methods: 53 ASOPP combined respiratory failure patients were randomly divided into experimental group(26 cases) and control group(27 cases). The patients in control group only received conventional therapy; while the patients in experimental group received mechanical ventilation at the same time. The cure rate, hospital stays, oxygen saturation, oxygen partial pressure and cholinesterase activity were respectively observed. Results:The cure rate of experimental group was 88.89%(24/26), which was obviously higher than that of control group(P 0.05); while the hospital stays of experimental group was obviously shorter than control group(P 0.05). Moreover, improvement of oxygen saturation, oxygen partial pressure and cholinesterase activity of patients in experimental group was better than control group(P 0.05). Conclusions:Treating acute severe organophosphorus pesticide poisoning(ASOPP) combined respiratory failure with mechanical ventilation can improve the cure rate and shorten hospital stays.
