Abstract
The safety factor method is still widely used in our mechanical profession up to now, but it has many disadvantage compared with the reliability design. This article has carried on the comparison between safety factor in the traditional design method and reliability in the reliability design, and proposed may introduce 6σ’s thought in the reliability design so as to gain the product design goal both economical and reliable.
