Hydrocarbon Generation Conditions of Source Rocks of Baishan Formation in Kushuigou Region of Ejina Banner (County) of Western Inner Mongolia

Abstract

Based on the study of source rock distribution characteristics of measured sections and organic matter abundance,its type and maturity of the source rocks of Beishan Formation in Kushuigou Area.The result shows that the thickness of dark mudstone is 518.1m and it is deposited in shallow marine shelf environment.TOC content ranges from 0.05% to 1.26 % and average value is 0.57.According to the relationships between the ratios of Pr/nC17 and the ratios of Ph/nC18,steranes C27-C28-C29 triangle figure,it is indicated that the organic matter type is Ⅱ1.The characteristics of vitrinite reflectance,clay mineral show that the source rocks are at over-mature stage.Integrated evaluation shows that the hydrocarbon source rocks of Baishan Formation have good condition of hydrocarbon generation potential.
