Abstract
In order to reduce the noise of the engine's exhaust system,an improved muffler model is presented, and the transmission loss of both the former muffler and the modified muffler is calculated and compared. Then a coupled model of the engine and the muffler is established, and the noise of the engine's exhaust system is analyzed.Simulation results show that the performance of the modified muffler is superior to the former muffler. This study is valuable for the development of mufflers.
