Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of liver transplantation in treatment of fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) patients. Method: A retrospective analysis was made for 3 FHF patients treated with liver transplantation. Result: The causes of death include pulmonary infection, multiple organ failure. Conclusions: The outcome of liver transplantation in treatment with FHF is depended on preoperative common condition of patients. The main cause of post-operation death is attributed to pulmonary complications. Orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) is an effective means for treating fulminant hepatic failure and hepatic encephalopathy.
