Abstract

Water quality index evaluation method was adopted to analyze and evaluate water quality of 4 sections in Liao River Basin. The results showed that the serious water pollution section was Sanchahe section. The water quality was inferiorⅤ water standard during 2002 to 2008. The main pollution indicators were ammonia, biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand. From water quality monthly variation, the highest water quality index appeared during dry season, and lower in flood season. With the method of Principal Component Analysis to evaluate the water quality of Liao River, the results showed that where the contribution rate of biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand and permanganate index exceed 47%, illustrating that the primary pollution is organic contamination. It is necessary to control emissions of all kinds of waste water to restraint serious pollution.
