Abstract

Aim: To validate the possibility of curing pre hepatic portal hypertension in children by fixation of liver with spleen. Methods: Fifteen dogs were used to make pre hepatic portal hypertension models by partially ligating the portal vein so that portal vein pressure increased about 3 times higher than pre operation.Six dogs as control group, in which abdomen cavity was closed.Nine dogs as experiment group,in which the liver and spleen was sutured and then the abdomen cavity was closed.Blood stream through the sutured area was detected by color ultrasound 12 weeks later. Other programs such as portal vein pressure, cicatrisation between liver and spleen, and liver biopsy were also done. Results: Ultrasound and contrast examination showed that the blood stream could come and go between live and spleen; pressure measure showed that it could effectively decreased portal vein pressure; pathologic observation revealed satisfactory cicatrisation between live and spleen parenchyma. Conclusion: The results showed that the method can effectively decrease portal vein pressure, and is feasible for curing pre hepatic portal hypertension.
