NEW CONCEPT OF CITY IN THE NEW CENTURY——A GOOD CITY SHOULD HAVE SUITABLE RESIDENTIAL ENVIRONMENTS

Now people are getting to accept the new concept of city that a good city should have suitable residential environments. This paper elaborates the formation of the new concept of city above; analyzes the main problems of urban residential environments in developing countries,especially of China; raises the basic standards with which a city is suitable to live in and the basic requirements, object and measures of optimizing urban residential environments; points out that knowledge basis is the value perforation of new concept of city.
