Relationship between Needle Sensation and Periphery Transcutaneous CO_2 Emission

Purpose: To observe the change of transcutaneous CO_2 emission on meridian points or non-points when the different needle sensations were gotten,and study the associativity between acupuncture de-qi and periphery constitution energy metabolism effect.Method: Different styles needling were used on 20 healthy volunteers' Neiguan(P6),measured TCE of points and non-points before,during and after acupuncture.Result: Needle sensation of sham-acupuncture and shallow-acupuncture group was less than that of de-qi group,while the later was less than that of caused by mechanical pressure.For de-qi group,TCE of meridian points ascended after acupuncture,which had statistical significance;after mechanical pressure,TCE of meridian points descended first and ascended after removed pression.Conclusion: Acupuncture curative effect and needle sensation were not sure to be in-synchronism,while after traditional acupuncture de-qi methods,TCE of points on one meridian ascended significantly,which showed effective acupuncture might elevate surface energy metabolism of correlated meridian.
