The Thoughts of Wetland Conservation in China

At present, the wetlands in China are facing to the heavy threats resulted from human beings. The pressures from survival have not been mitigated; as well the pressures from development are imperiling the wetland ecosystems seriously. All the threats have resulted in the continuous degradation, even loss of wetlands in China, and the status is very difficult to meet the requirement of national ecological security. According to the situation of economic development, population and resources, the China national wetland strategy should be limited in goals strategy. Under the overall goal of conservation and wise use of wetlands, the wetlands in recent term strategy should emphasize in wetland conservation, i.e. giving priority to natural (original) wetlands conservation, and complementing with pilot projects of the ecological restoration, reconstruction and wise of degraded wetlands.
