Abstract

Antioxidant activities of POD and SOD of seabuckthorn subjected to different intensity of drought stress are studied. Moreover,SOD isoenzyme is analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The results show that the activity of SOD is higher than that of the control under slight and medium drought stress in a long term, while the activity of POD rises to a great extent under slight stress. Both of them increase slowly at the early stage under serious drought stress. These results indicate that the ability of protective enzymes of seabuckthorn is high and can eliminate active oxygen, thus lessen the membranelipid peroxidation injury effectively. There are five SOD isoenzyme bands on gel, among which the activitity of both SODⅢ and SODⅣ bands enhance significantly under slight and medium drought stress. No new band appears under any level of drought stress.
