With the idea of advocating environmental justice as its goal,American environmental literature forms a new literary trend which focuse on the relation betweem man and nature.The theme of environmental justice has owed much to the various resources pertaining to it: the Western tradition of pursuing justice,the Christian idea for man to look after nature at God's will,the modern ecological wisdom,and the demand of the Indians and Easterners to urge man to fear nature,and etc.Delving into the various resources,which include both ancient and new wisdom,can deepen the understanding of the rich implications of this central theme in American environmental literature.
