Abstract
UPF0497(Uncharacteristic protein family 0497) is a membrane protein family which function is unknown. Recently research showed that five members of this family are involved in casparian strip formation. In this study, promoter sequences of UPF0497 family members were analyzed, founding that promoter sequences of two members of the family(At2g39530 and At2g03700)both had DRE cis-element. We speculated that members of this family might participate in abiotic stress response. We chose At2g39530 for further study. The results illuminated that At2g39530 was a root enhanced expression protein and existed in nuclei and cytoplasm, responding to salinity, drought and cold in ABA-independent pathway, these results could be useful for further functional characterization of UPF0497 family genes in abiotic stress.
