Abstract
Objective:To understand the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase 2 and 9 in laryngeal carcinoma. Methods: Analyze the expressions of MMP 2 and MMP 9 in 45 cases with laryngeal carcinoma by immunohistochemistry and investigate the relationship between MMP 2 , MMP 9 expression and survival rate in 18 cases. Results:The expression of MMP 2 and MMP 9 were higher in tumor tissue than that in corresponding normal tissue. The tumoral expressions of MMP 2 and MMP 9 in clinical Ⅲ stage were higher than those in Ⅱ stage. The expression level of MMP 2 and MMP 9 in patients with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those with negative lymph node metastasis . The patients with high expression level of MMP 2 showed a significantly poorer 5 year survival rate than those with low expression level. Conclusion:The high level of MMP 2 and MMP 9 expressions are closely related to the invasion and metastasis of laryngeal carcinoma, and the higher expression level of MMP 2,the poorer prognosis.
