Influence of Potassium Sulfate on Thermal Stability of Ammonium Nitrate Solution of High Concentration

Abstract

In order to explore reaction mechanism of the potassium sulfate mixed with ammonium nitrate solution of high concentration at high temperature,Thermal safety of potassium sulfate and ammonium nitrate(AN)in different concentration aqueous solution were studied by using the self-designed devices.The results show that the potassium sulfates has a obviously effect on thermal stability of the ammonium nitrate aqueous solution of high concentration,the critical explosion temperature of mixture is showed downward trend as a whole.With the concentration of potassium sulfate solution fluctuating in the scope of 14%,the critical explosion temperature of ammonium nitrate solution of 82%~90%concentration are fluctuated about 220 ℃to 270 ℃.In addition,when the concentration of potassium sulfate is8.8%,the higher concentration of ammonium nitrate solution is,the lower critical explosion temperature becomes.When the concentration of potassium sulfate is 12.4%,with the concentration of ammonium nitrate increasing,the critical explosion temperature shows upward trend.
