Abstract
Objective: To investigate the surgical technique, risk factors, complications and the preventive measures in patients with moderate severe vertebral artery stenosis treated with endovascular stent-angioplasty. Methods: The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed in 53 patients with moderate /severe carotid artery stenosis undergone treatment of endovascular stent-angioplasty. Results: The endovascular stent-angioplasty was successfully performed in the 53 by implanting 62 pieces of stents. Severe postoperative hypotension and bradycardia occurred in 10 cases and cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome in1. Follow-up examination in half year after operation showed no re-stenosis and vascular event. Conclusion: Careful evaluation of the indications and contraindications, well controlled risk factors and timely identification and management of the complications may better reduce the surgical risk factors.
