Correlation Analysis of Personality Factors and Test Anxiety of Nursing Students in Higher Vocational School

Objective To learn about the test anxiety of nursing students in higher vocational school, and to discuss the influence of personality factors on test anxiety.Methods Two classes of nursing students had been selected respectively from grade 2005 and 2006 in the Ningbo College of Health Sciences by integral sampling.Self-evaluation Questionnaire for Test Anxiety Levels and Questionnaire for Big Five Personality Factors had been used in the investigation and the data were input in the data base built by SPSS 12.0.Descriptive analysis, rank sum test had been carried out according to the nature of the materials and the goal of the research.Results The total score of test anxiety was 9.00～67.00(34.16±12.53).Students with mild anxiety took up 64.6%, and there was on existence of students suffering from heavy anxiety.Statistical significance existed neither between students form different grades nor between students who were the only child in the family or not(P0.05).Adaptability in the personality factors was negatively correlated with the test anxiety level.Conclusion Nursing students in this higher vocational school have a low level of test anxiety.Students with higher level of adaptability have a relatively lower level of test anxiety.
