Abstract

Objective The hybridoma technology was used in this study to prepare Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8-specific monoclonal antibodies for typing and identification. Methods Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 strains were the antigens used in the bone marrow hybridoma technology for the preparation of Yersinia enterocolitica monoclonal antibodies. Slide agglutination screening was conducted to identify the specificity of monoclonal antibodies. Results Positive reactions to Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 strains were detected in one group of the antibodies, consistent with previous antiserum test results in Japan. In addition, cross agglutination to other serotypes of Yersinia enterocolitica and common intestinal bacteria was absent in this group of antibodies. Conclusion The group of monoclonal antibodies obtained in the screening was highly specific to Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 strains without cross agglutination problems commonly seen in immune serum. Hence, these antibodies would be conducive to the identification of Yersinia enterocolitica serotype O:8 strains.
