Clinical effects of treatment for 35 peri-implantitis patients

Objective:To analyze the treatment effect of peri-implantitis patients by systemic therapy in our department. Method:18 patients with 1 or more dental implants search suffering from dental peri-implantitis were received a systematic treatment,such as supragingival and subgingival scaling, local application of antibiotics (minocycline hydrochloride). Parame- ters including plaque index (PLI), sulcular bleeding index(MSBI),bleeding on probing(BOP),papilla index score(PIS),and prob- ing depth(PD) of pockets were measured at beginning of the treatment and 6 weeks later. Result:In the total of 35 implants,PLI have no significant difference before and after treatment. mSBI and BOP were recovered after 6 weeks,by our methods. The PD were 2.69±1.23*,2.14±1.03,2.51±0.85,2.54±1.24,2.40±1.19,2.49±1.01 before treatment,and 2.40±0.85*,1.94±0.80,2.40± 0.77,2.46±1.12,2.20±0.90,2.34±0.94 after. It means the treatment give us a stable margin bone level during the 6 weeks. Conclusion:Systematic therapy is a significant effect for dental peri-implantitis, and the treatment should be repeated every 3 weeks for effect.
