Abstract
Along with the rapid development of technology and national economy, the demands of electric energy largely increase, correspondingly the power qual ity becomes more and more important and close attention is increasingly paid to power quality by both electric industry and consumers. The basic problems of mod ern power quality are outlined in this paper. First the various concepts of powe r quality are discussed, then the main reasons leading to the close attention to power quality are summarized, finally the relevant problems, including the inde xes of power quality, the harm of power quality deterioration, the monitoring an d measurement of power quality, the method of power quality analysis and calcul ation, the approach to improve power quality, the standard and management of pow er quality, etc., are summed up.
