Thinking about Elementary Science Curriculum Reform

On the basis of 8-year practice of elementary science curriculum in China,the author makes a deep examination and thinking on the curriculum setup,the property,goal and evaluation of elementary science.The author believes that elementary science curriculum should be offered from grade 1 or 2.The property of elementary science curriculum is defined as a core curriculum to develop students' scientific literacy.The goal of elementary science curriculum is to help students understand some fundamental science concepts,to experience the process of science,to learn some basic scientific methods,to have scientific attitude,to understand the relationship among science,technology and society,and to understand the nature of science.The evaluation of the curriculum includes both evaluation on the teaching of science and evaluation on the learning of science.
