Abstract

BACKGROUND Meningitis and encephalitis in Yanbian area from July to September in 1996. In the period,the inpatient were 313 cases.CASE REPORT Occurrence was acute in all the patients. Boys were slightly more than girls, the average age was 9 years. All the patients had a fever, headache, vomiting and somnolence. Their body temperature was low or middle fever degree. Most patient's cerebrospinal fluid were abnormal. The average recovery time was 14 days. The prognosis was good. DISCUSSION The diseases were caused by intestinal virus, clinical symptoms were relatively slight and the prognosis was good.
