Abstract
After Constantinople's fall in 1204,the Latins established many countries and fiefs in the former Byzantine territories according to the system of enfeoffment in the Western Europe,which destroyed the Byzantine social structure.The Byzantines themselves built many independent countries or forces,and in the Nicaea Empire the central authority weakened and the local separatist forces strengthened.All these made the rebuilt Byzantine Empire fall apart and unable to develop into a united centralized great power again.
