Abstract

Poly(olefin sulfone)s was prepared from α-alkenes and sulfur dioxide. The anti-static performance of poly(olefin sulfone)s in hydrotreated diesel fuel was evaluated. The effects of fuel components,in particular, the polar compounds on the anti-static performance of poly(olefin sulfone)s in petroleum ether were investigated and the anti-static mechanism was discussed. The results showed when poly(olefin sulfone)s's dosage was 2 mg/L,the conductivity increment(Δσ) of hydrotreated diesel fuel was 107 pS/m,and up to 234 pS/m after storing 7 d without decrease.Olefins and monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons had modest synergistic anti-static effects with poly(olefin sulfone)s,the compounds containing polar N—H and O—H bond, such as aniline and m-cresol which could form hydrogen bond with sulfone group within poly(olefin sulfone)s had adverse effects on the anti-static performance of poly(olefin sulfone)s in petroleum ether.Naphthenic acid and dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid had large synergistic anti-static effects with poly(olefin sulfone)s in petroleum ether, because the strong interaction between them caused separation of charges.Naphthenic acid in diesel fuel had no synergistic anti-static effect with poly(olefin sulfone)s,but poly(olefin-maleic anhydride sulfone)s containing carbonyl group within the molecule had better anti-static performance than poly(olefin sulfone)s.
